How to Install VMware vCenter 5.1 Server

To manage VMware ESXi 5.1, you have to connect to VMware vCenter server.

Prerequisites

Prerequisites for vCenter Server:

  • Install Vmware vCenter SSO (Single Sign On)
  • Install Vmware Inventory Service

Operating System:

  • Windows Server 2003 SP2 64-bit (Standard, Enterprise or Datacenter)
  • Windows Server 2003 R2 64-bit (Standard, Enterprise or Datacenter)
  • Windows Server 2008 SP1 64-bit (Standard, Enterprise or Datacenter)

In order to install vCenter server you need to install vCenter Inventory Service first. To install Inventory service you need Vmware vCenter single sign on (SSO).
