How to Install vCenter Inventory Service 5.1

In order to install vCenter server you need to install vCenter Inventory Service first. To install Inventory service you need Vmware vCenter single sign on (SSO).

Run the Installer

Click Next

Accept the Licence agreement

Decide the location to install

VMware server 2008 R2 [35]-2016-08-03-17-46-30

Enter the FQDN for the inventory service

VMware server 2008 R2 [35]-2016-08-03-17-46-41

Enter the appropriate port numbers manually or keep the default.

Choose the inventory size.

VMware server 2008 R2 [35]-2016-08-03-17-46-56

Enter your Single Sign On (SSO) username/password and lookup service URL

VMware server 2008 R2 [35]-2016-08-03-17-47-26

Click Install Certificate

Click finish to complete the installation

congratulations !!  vCenter Inventory Service is installed now. The next step is to install the vCenter Server.
